The study of the Priesthood of Christ is a journey through the Bible which takes us to the cross. Nothing is more vital to the Christian’s heart than understanding the meaning and necessity of the cross of Christ. Why did Jesus have to die, and what is the meaning of the death he died? It is not enough to mouth the words about God sending his only Son to die for us; the heart must comprehend the whole of it if we would truly be brought to the cross. This study, by Dr. David Lawrence, examines the whole basic underlying concept of priests and sacrifices in God’s economy, paying special attention to the role of the sacrifices and priesthood under the Mosaic system, which foreshadowed the priesthood of Christ. The goal is to gain a more adequate understanding of the whole concept of priesthood under which Christians function today. The Christian application and meaning of priesthood and sacrifices in the book of Hebrews will round out the study.
