Many true children of God live their lives in fear of being eternally rejected by their Father. This insecurity robs the Christian of his peace, happiness, and productivity while at the same time robbing God of His glory. It is possible to know that we are God’s children, and by that fact have assurance that He will not forsake us. The fundamental premise of this study is that we have security not because of our own performance but because we are His children. In his first letter, the apostle John gave us several characteristics of those born of God, and assessing these in our lives should lead to the assurance necessary to live a life to His honor and glory.
