Ex. 3:18, "The elders of Israel will listen to you. Then you and the elders are to go to the king of Egypt and say to him, 'The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Let us take a three-day journey into the desert to offer sacrifices to the Lord our God.' But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him. So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.”
Ex. 6:1 “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.’ The mighty hand of God moved in the heart of the king of Egyptso that he released the Hebrews. It is an interesting study to go through the scriptures and simply note how many times we read that God put it in peoples’ hearts to do His will!
Prov. 21:1 says that “ the king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.” He put it in the hearts of the Egyptians to give treasure to the Hebrews, he put it in the heart of David to number Israel, He moved the heart of Cyrus to free the Jews and write an edict to that effect, He put it in the heart of Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, He changed Saul’s heart so he would prophesy, He put it into Titus’ heart to have a care for the people, He puts His laws in our hearts and minds today, and He takes away our heart of stone and gives us a new heart of flesh.
2 Chronicles 30:11-13, “However, some men of Asher, of Manasseh, and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem. The hand of God was also on Judah to give them one heart to do what the king and the princes commanded by the word of the Lord.”
