The Scheme of Redemption is a parallel study of the texts of Paul’s letters to the Ephesians and to the Colossians. These two New Testament letters are quite similar in structure and in content and present a synopsis of the story of our salvation, of which we find a much more expanded treatment in the Roman letter.

Again, Paul, as he customarily does, lays out the theological basis for the Christian life and then follows it with practical teaching. The practical is always firmly rooted in the doctrinal, so that there is a consistent flow of ideas beginning with the eternal purpose of God, continuing with the work of Jesus Christ, with our salvation, our Christian lives, and finally our eternal glorification.

By combining and integrating the texts of these two letters, we can gain remarkable insights into the nature of our salvation. The letter to the Ephesians emphasizes somewhat more the role of the church, and thus of the communal aspect of our salvation, and the letter to the Colossians focuses more on Christ and his identity.

We are excited to offer this class to Christians who seek a deeper understanding of the working of God in our salvation and for the praise of his glory.
